As you will notice, many of the shades I create have different hardware to secure the shade to your lamp base. To clarify, a harp is a metal piece that attaches to the light bulb housing of your lamp base. Shades that fit onto a lamp base with a harp will have a cross bar in the top opening with a small hole in the center that sits on the screw that is attached to the center of the crossbar. To secure the shade to the harp, you simply attach the finial of your choice to the screw and you are done! A shade with a ring is one in which there is a metal ring inside the shade attached to four metal bars that extend down from the top opening of the shade. You may have a lamp without a harp. In that case, you will simply unscrew the bulb, set the ring on the light bulb housing, screw the bulb back in and you are done! If you have a lamp with harp hardware, but you have your heart set on one of my shades that has ring hardware, do not despair. You can simply unscrew the harp hardware from your lamp base and use the shade just like I describe in the paragraph above. Finally, a shade with a chandelier clip is designed for a smaller lamp base that may require a smaller bulb or even a chandelier flame-type bulb. You can often still attach this type of shade to a standard bulb, but more often than not, a lamp base with a standard sized bulb will usually be too big to aesthetically support such a small shade. In any case, just make note of the lamp shade height to ensure it will sit properly, leaving enough of your base showing, but not allowing your light bulb housing to be exposed. I do not allow for refunds or returns on any Glamm Lamps lamp shades.
