As an interior decorator, I know how hard it is to create unique style on a budget. In fact, I was helping a very good friend and her husband decorate their home recently and we faced such a challenge. Since they were not planning to live in that home for more than two or three years, they did not want to spend a great deal of money on accessories that may or may not work in their next home. Given that limitation and the fact that I had a lot of work to do with a limited budget, I had to get a bit more creative than usual.

I had purchased two identical lamps for their guest bedroom, but the shades on these lamps were less than fabulous so I purchased some beading and looped fringe, and with the help of my trusty hot glue gun, I transformed these “Plain Jane” lamp shades into gorgeous works of art. My client LOVES these new shades!

In fact, she was so happy that I decided to try my hand at a adding some of this “bling” to various shades for other clients. Each client expressed such enthusiasm for the custom shades they now have in their home that I went ahead and made a variety of different shades for no one in particular to see if there was a market for my creations. Well, is there ever! I posted my collection of approximately 35 lamp shades on Facebook and experienced overwhelming demand. I am even hosting Glamm Lamps Preview Parties now for people to see and touch the shades that I have in stock as well as for guests to choose the fabric and size they want for their very own custom Glamm Lamps shade perfect for their home. It’s great fun for me because I have always held the design philosophy that no two clients’ homes should look exactly the same. This is a small touch that can make a considerable difference in just about any room, from the entry to the living room and from the kitchen to the bathroom.

Since my personality is a bit over-the-top, I want my lamp shades to be over-the-top too! I also want to create an accessory that makes a major impact without breaking the budget. That’s why I started Glamm Lamps. This is a very exciting venture and I hope that you find a lamp shade in my inventory that is perfect for your home so you can snatch it up! The first 100 lamp shades will be one-of-a-kind creations, all individually numbered and never to be recreated.
